The Campagnolo Centaur 11 Crankset is a four-arm driver that does what Campagnolo’s carbon-fiber cranks do, but in aluminum. Campy wanted to step up the performance of Centaur, so they made sure to include the best performance features of their Super Record cranks, but in a design that keeps costs down.
The first thing they did was make sure that this crank featured their Ultra-Torque fastening system. This is a single hex-head bolt that joins the left and right side of the cranks in the middle via two splined halves. It’s simple, reliable, durable, and light. It also means that Campagnolo’s standard Ultra-Torque bottom bracket will work with it as well.
The second thing they did was mimic the basics of their four-arm carbon-fiber crank design while fabricating it out of aluminum. It shares the same aesthetics, the same standard/compact bolt circle diameter, and similar stiffness.
The third thing they did was add ramps and pins to the chainrings to make shifting easier.
There are two versions of the crank, one in Black, one in Silver. There are two available chainring combinations, a mid-compact 52/36 and a compact 50/34. The rings can be replaced with other combinations by other Campagnolo four-bolt chainrings
Weight for the Centaur Eleven-Speed Crankset is 738g.
