Shimano fans rejoice. Quarq makes the DFour Carbon Crank for you. This is a four-arm version of their DZero spider, and it is designed specifically to work with Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 and 9100, Ultegra 6800, and 105 5800 four-bolt chainrings. And it comes with carbon arms.
The DZero is the culmination of all of Quarq’s work to this point. It’s a step up from their previous Elsa spider, though it might well look almost identical. Quarq found about 150 ways to improve their design, and employed them all in the spider. It works just like the old one, just with better circuitry, improved consistency, and identical accuracy. They added an extra LED light to better tell you what’s going on with the meter. And they added a Bluetooth low energy (BTLE) signal alongside the ANT+ they already utilize so that you have even more options in terms of what devices can read and record your power numbers.
As you’re a Shimano fan, you probably have the Shimano rings sitting on a Shimano crankset. Just swap them over. Or find rings that work with Shimano’s 110mm asymmetric bolt circle diameter.
There are essentially two models. Both have crankarm lengths as short as 162.5mm and as long as 177.5mm. There are GXP and BB30 versions. GXP works with GXP bottom brackets as well as BB86, and any bottom bracket that fits a 24mm thru-axle crank. BB30 works with BB30, PF30, BBright, BB386EVO, BB30A, and PF30A.
Weight for the Quarq DFour Carbon Crank is 588g.
