Rotor’s 2INPower Crank for Direct Mount Chainrings power meter is light and accurate thanks to placement of four strain gauges in the thru-axle and two in the right crankarm. This allows it to measure both left and right power as well as provide incredibly precise metrics by which you can analyze and perfect your pedal stroke. Accuracy is a clamed 1-1.5%.
Like all good power systems these days, the 2INPower sends out both ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart (BTLE) signals simultaneously. These can be picked up by ANT+ head units, Bluetooth head units, smartphones, tablets, and computers (check yours for specific app and program compatibility). Thanks to the Bluetooth signal, you can utilize Rotor’s Torque 360 metrics for dialing in your pedal stroke as well as their OCA software for determining what, position your Rotor Oval chainring should sit out for optimal power transfer. Of course, if you’re fixed on round, you don’t need to utilize this program.
Rotor’s hollow, oversized thru-axle means you can use this crank with Rotor’s Universal Bottom Bracket (UBB) concept, meaning it is compatible with: English-threaded, Italian-threaded, BB30, PF30, PF30 BBright, and BB386 bottom bracket standards. It also means that Rotor has the space to install circuitry, strain gauges, and a battery inside. Same goes for the hollow, Trinity-drilled, aluminum crankarms, which house more strain gauges.
The cranks are light and stiff, and come with a lock ring, but not chainrings. They also come with the requisite lock ring tool. You’ll need to choose whether you go with Rotor’s one-piece Direct Mount (DM) Round or Oval chainrings or Aldhu four-arm spider. In all cases, the spider is splined and slides onto the inside of the right crankarm from the left side and is secured to the splines with the lock ring. This is light, stiff, and very effective.
The axle-mounted Lithium-Ion battery comes with a charge on it. You might want to fully charge before riding. It should last about 250 hours on a charge. The charge cable is included, is four feet long and works very much like a computer charging cable with a magnetic mount on the crank side and a USB connector on the power side.
The crank comes in sizes as short as 165mm and as long as 175mm. The Q-Factor is 147.5mm. The chain line is 43.5mm. It has a waterproof rating of IPX7.
The crankset weighs 596g without rings. 775g with a one-piece chainring set.
