• Stages Power Meter | Shimano Dura-Ace 7710 Track Left Side Crank Arm

Finding a power meter for track bike is hard. Make that was hard. Stages has applied their Power Meter to the Left Side of a Shimano Dura-Ace 7710 Track Crankset. So now you can swap out the left arm of your Shimano DA crankset, and you’ve got sleek power meter that records your ride.

You’ve seen Stages in action, even if you’ve never realized it. Team Sky has been riding Stages for the past few years, and it’s taken their riders to victory at the Tour de France as well as countless other races.

Thanks to great design and relentless evaluation, the unit is small, aero, and highly refined. It adds only 20g to the left arm, making it one of the lightest power meters you can find. The CR2032 battery-powered unit lasts over 200 hours, can record efforts up to 2500 watts, can accurately measure cadence from 20-220rpm, and is accurate to +/- 2%. The accuracy is barely affected by temperature as the programming has active temperature compensation. Its waterproof rating is IPX7, which meets or exceeds its competition.

The unit sends ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart (aka Bluetooth low energy, btle) signals. ANT+ covers most bicycle and sport measuring devices, while Bluetooth means you’ve got compatibility with smartphones, tablets, and computers.

You can upgrade the firmware wirelessly from a phone or tablet with the Stages Power app, which is compatible with iPhones 4S and newer and Androids 4.4 and newer.

Because the Stages meter is on the inside of the left crankarm, there are some bikes where the clearance is too tight for the Stages to fit. To check whether or not yours works, take your bike and array the left crank so it’s parallel with the left chainstay. If a 10mm hex wrench can fit between the frame and crank at a distance of 5-10cm from the center of the bottom bracket, it should work. If you have a bike with a brake mounted under the bottom bracket, contact Stages with your brake, bike, and crank info, and they’ll be able to answer definitively.

The meter is only compatible with a Shimano Octalink track bottom bracket.

The Stages Shimano Dura-Ace 7710 Left Side Crank Arm Power Meter comes with an offer for two months of free Stages Link Coaching and Analytics. There’s also information for a protection plan that you’ll need to act on within two weeks of purchasing the meter.
